Our Vision

GOD’S DREAM:
Our Glad Tidings leadership team has developed a plan of action to carry the gospel into our community, as well as caring for and ministering to believers within our church family.  We believe this is GOD’S DREAM for Glad Tidings, and it consists of five key areas of ministry:

FELLOWSHIP
We believe fellowship is vital to the health and growth of our church. Through fellowship we hope to provide a safety net in order to keep people from slipping through the cracks or getting lost in the shuffle of our active church family.

DISCIPLESHIP
We want to help every believer mature in their Christian faith.  There is a Foundations Class for new believers and those who are new to our church.  We have age appropriate Sunday School Classes for everyone as well as ministry groups that meet at various times.

GIFT-ORIENTED MINISTRY
At Glad Tidings we encourage every believer to use their talents and gifts for the glory of God and the benefit of His kingdom.  We believe the church is best served when members are involved in areas of ministry that suit their interests.

EVANGELISM
Our motivation for evangelism is seeing others come to faith in Jesus Christ, and getting them plugged into the church and ministry.

WORSHIP
Worship is a vital part of ministry at Glad Tidings.  We strive to lead people into the presence of God through multiple styles of music and ministry formats.

LIFE IS A JOURNEY
Beginning with salvation, we want to help others discover their divine destiny.
It is the path from darkness to light.
Come join us on A Journey of Love, Hope, and Restoration!

Ministry Plan

According to Ephesians 2:10 Christians are the workmanship of Christ.  As a saved people, we are to perform good works. We are, in effect, an extension of Christ and His work today is to be accomplished through His people. We are to continue on with the ministry that Jesus began some 2000 years ago.  It is a work that we do both as individuals and collectively.  Our work involves evangelizing the world, edifying the Christian, and doing good to others.

We believe that these works of ministry, put forth solely to glorify God, offer a wide and interesting variety for people of all ages and involvement interests.

Salvation

“I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.” JOHN 14:6

ONCE YOU’VE DECIDED YOU BELIEVE JESUS IS THE WAY
TO SALVATION, AND YOU CALL ON HIM FOR THE
FORGIVENESS OF YOUR SINS—NOTHING CAN SEPARATE
YOU FROM HIS LOVE. IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY PRAYED
A PRAYER OF CONFESSION, LET’S DO SO NOW:

DEAR GOD,
I’M PRAYING BECAUSE I KNOW I NEED A SAVIOR.
I BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, HE DIED FOR
MY SINS, AND ROSE AGAIN ON THE THIRD DAY.
I’M ASKING YOU TO FORGIVE MY SINS, AND I BELIEVE
THROUGH JESUS, I AM FORGIVEN. AMEN.

“EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF
THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.” ROMANS 10:13

IF YOU HAVE JUST PRAYED THIS PRAYER,
AND ACCEPTED JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR,
OUR PASTOR WOULD LOVE TO TALK WITH YOU.

Our Beliefs

These are nonnegotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of God churches adhere to. This list is derived from the official Statement of Fundamental Truths. Click links below to see the complete original statement with scriptures.

WE BELIEVE…The Scriptures are Inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind.

WE BELIEVE…There is only One True God–revealed in three persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity).

WE BELIEVE…In the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s son Jesus was both human and divine.

WE BELIEVE…though originally good, Man Willingly Fell to Sin–ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world.

WE BELIEVE…Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God Through ‘Salvation’ (trusting Christ, through faith and repentance, to be our personal Savior). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…and practice two ordinances—(1) Water Baptism by Immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation, and (2) Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.

WE BELIEVE…the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a Special Experience Following Salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE… The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is ‘Speaking in Tongues,’ as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.

WE BELIEVE…Sanctification Initially Occurs at Salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christlike.

WE BELIEVE…The Church has a Mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe ‘the Church’ is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE…A Divinely Called and Scripturally Ordained Leadership Ministry Serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, to build up or edify the body of believers–the Church and to meet human need with ministries of love and compassion.

WE BELIEVE…Divine Healing of the Sick is a Privilege for Christians Today and is provided for in Christ’s atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…in The Blessed Hope—When Jesus Raptures His Church Prior to His Return to Earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…in The Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace.

WE BELIEVE…A Final Judgment Will Take Place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire.

WE BELIEVE…and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. ‘And so shall we forever be with the Lord!’

Core Values

These are the values that give direction to Glad Tidings Assembly of God and are fundamental to everything we do as a body of Christian believers.  They are what we have prayerfully determined to be God’s Heart for our church and they define Our Mission.

BIBLICAL FOUNDATION –
First, we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our church is built on this principle.  We preach and teach the Bible as the foundation for our relationships with God and with one another.

PRAYER DEPENDENT –
Prayer is essential to the life and ministries of Glad Tidings.  We believe a private prayer life, as well as corporate prayer are vital to the health of the church.  There are several opportunities offered each week for people to gather for prayer.

SPIRITUAL MENTORING –
The relationships we build with new Christians allows us to give encouragement and guidance to those who are seeking to follow Christ.  This is done through one-on-one interaction, as well as encouraging them to be a part of a class or small group.

CHRIST-LIKE COMPASSION –
Jesus demonstrated compassion by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and accepting people exactly as they were when they came to Him.  Our goal is for the church to be a place where every person is welcomed and their needs are ministered to.

COMMUNITY CONNECTED –
Wewahitchka is a small town with a big heart, and we endeavor to work with other churches and organizations for the benefit of God’s Kingdom, as well as the community.  Our hope is that through relationships built on love, trust, and hope we can lead others to Christ.

HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERED –
We are a Pentecostal Church empowered by the Holy Spirit.  This means we are completely dependent upon our individual relationships with our Father, and seek His presence daily.  Jesus said, “when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power to testify about me with great effect.”

CREATIVE EVANGELISM –
Jesus was certainly the most creative evangelist ever.  His approach to reaching people was always fresh and anointed.  Twenty-first century America is diverse and rapidly changing.  At Glad Tidings our aim is to use our God-given imagination in reaching our community with the power of the gospel.

ALL-INCLUSIVE –
At Glad Tidings we recognize our community and culture are diverse.  We believe it is the Heart of God for us to be a multigenerational and ethnically blended church, uniting all God’s children in one accord, helping individuals and families to be strengthened in their spiritual journey.  Everyone is welcome at Glad Tidings!
